Joe Delessio of Sports on Earth compiled a top 10 list of memorable sports moments with David Letterman.
You’ll need to read the story to find out Delessio’s choice for No. 1. However, No. 9 brought back a lot of memories.
This one didn’t make Delessio’s list, but during his appearance, Joe Garagiola brought out a surprise guest: Ted Williams.
List does not include the two White Sox themed ones unfortunately.
In August 1993 Letterman had Frank Thomas as a guest. The strike had been going on for a week or two and they talked about the ramifications of it. Then Dave had Frank hit different pieces of fruit off batting tees. I think they were an orange, a grapefruit and then a watermelon.
Then two days after Phil Humber threw his perfect game he had him via remote from Oakland read the Top 10 list of things Phil Humber was thinking as he was throwing a perfect game.
#1: “Humber…no Hum-best!”
Wonder if he ever did anything with Mark Buehrle after his perfect game?
Have both the Thomas and Humber video in my Sox library.
