Yes, things have come a long way in 34 years. Just compare the debut of Fox Sports Live last night to ESPN’s first SportsCenter in 1979.
Charissa Thompson gave viewers a tour of the Fox Sports Live set and crew.
In 1979, Lee Leonard handed it off to George Grande. The studio looks like it was in someone’s basement. Who knows? Maybe it was.
Ed:
Can’t compare the two because of the technology that was available at the time.
Personally, my own opinion, I don’t have an issue with a “less is more” viewpoint. I don’t need all the bells, whistles and things that distract me from what I’m supposed to be doing…listening to the anchor and watching the highlights. In particular that distracting crawl that’s now common at the bottom of the screen.
That crawl was started to let all the goofy fantasy players know how their selections did. I find it nothing but annoying.
